1991年から私の研究室では未完の建築や都市空間をCGによって再現したアニメーションを継続的に制作してきた。そのきっかけとなったのが、1992年の「未来派」展（セゾン美術館）であった。美術館からの依頼は、未来派の建築家アントニオ・サンテリアのパースペクティヴ・ドローイングを３次元的な空間展示を試みることであった。1枚のドローイングのみによる空間再現という制約から、私はCGアニメーションを提案したが、私にとってはまったく未知のフィールドであった。そうして完成したアニメーションはわずか9分の映像作品であったが、具体的な反響を多数いただいた。
このCG作品が契機となって、歴史上の実現しなかった空間プロジェクトを通覧する「未来都市の考古学」展（1996年 東京都現代美術館／ひろしま美術館／岐阜県美術館）の企画・監修へと発展した。約３年間の準備期間を経て展覧会のために制作されたアニメーションは約60分におよんだ。そのすべてのアニメーションはCD-ROM「NOWHERE」（HartLAND1996）に収録されている。 その２年後に企画・監修した「ジュゼッペ・テラーニ」展（水戸芸術館）でも、テラーニの未完のプロジェクトをCG化し、約30分のアニメーションを制作した。
これらのCG作品は2000年のミラノ工科大学、ブレシア美術館での ‘Spazio Retrovato’ 展でも公開され、さまざまなメディアからの関心を得た。

In my laboratory I and students have been producing so many CG animations of unbuilt architectural and urban projects. The source of those our products was the exhibition ‘FUTURISM’ held in the Sezon Museum in Tokyo 1992. The request from the museum was the spatial representation of the perspective drawings by Futurist architect Antonio Sant’Elia. For its realization, I proposed the visual operation by CG animation, because of the limitation of the material, only a perspective drawing. But I had never experienced those kind of operation. Finally I made the works of CG animations on Antonio Sant’Elia drawings, durating almost only 9 minutes. Besides of its extremely short duration of animations, the reaction from the audience was quite enthusiastic.
Following to those works, I proposed the concept for the exhibition ‘Archaeology of the Future City’ held in the Contemporary Art Museum Tokyo, Gifu Prefectural Museum and Hiroshima Museum 1996, focusing on the unrealized interesting projects in each historical periods.
